Learn more about Backup Balance

Understanding backup balance

Backup Balance provides a way for you to continue using funds even when your Uber Pro Card balance is running low. Depending on your status with Uber Pro, you can access different amounts:

  • Diamond or Platinum: Up to $150
  • Gold: Up to $100
  • Blue or Green: Up to $50

Eligibility for backup balance

The following factors are used to determine eligibility:

  • Your historical earnings with Uber (driving and/or delivering)
  • The number of trips or orders that you have made on the Uber platform
  • Having an active Uber Pro Card account with automatic payouts enabled
  • Your current Uber Pro or Uber Eats Pro status (“Pro Status”)

These factors are analyzed every month, and you must meet the eligibility requirements to access Backup Balance Funds. Access to additional funds is not guaranteed and is subject to change based on eligibility requirements.

Using Backup Balance with garnishments

If you have a wage garnishment, you can use both auto payout and Backup Balance to pay off your outstanding garnishment amount.

If your wage garnishment takes up 100% of your earnings, your earnings will automatically use auto payout to pay back any outstanding amounts.

If it doesn’t cover the full garnishment amount, the remainder will still get deposited into your Uber Pro Card Backup Balance and your next deposit will automatically be used to pay back the outstanding amount—if the function is enabled.

Repaying your backup balance

When you use Backup Balance, it’s simple to repay:

  • Your following deposit automatically repays the borrowed amount.
  • This can include cash deposits, direct deposits, earnings from Instant Pay, and automatic payouts.
  • If your next deposit isn’t enough to cover the full amount, it will still go toward paying down what you owe.
  • You will be able to use Backup Balance funds once again after the previous balance has been repaid.
