Passkeys are a new, safe, and convenient method for merchants to log into their accounts and access apps (via both mobile and desktop) and websites As digital security evolves, so do our methods to protect accounts and sensitive information.
- Passkeys are cryptographic credentials that simplify and secure the login process by replacing passwords with an encrypted, device-specific key such as Touch ID, Face ID, or PIN. Devices that can be used as a passkey include your smartphone, tablet, or even computer.
- Password remains as the first layer of authentication, but now paired with the Passkey, providing an even stronger defense against phishing and credential theft.
This shift to Passkey + Password enhances protection for your accounts helping safeguard your account information. Below, you can find instructions on how to set up a passkey via both methods:
To set up mobile Passkeys:
- Navigate to account.uber.com
- Use merchant account email to log in
- Once logged in, click on the ‘Security’ tab
- Select ‘Passkeys’
- Click ‘Create a passkey’
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enable Passkeys on the device
- NOTE: Users are now able to log into their account on any device while their mobile phone is present - once logged in, they can set up a passkey on the new device
To set up desktop Passkeys:
- Navigate to account.uber.com
- Use merchant account email to log in
- Once logged in, click on the ‘Security’ tab
- Select ‘Passkeys’
- Click ‘Create a passkey’
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enable Passkeys on the device
- NOTE: Users are now able to log into their account using this device by using the device login method (password, fingerprint, etc.)
